“My boys have been at DreamLake Elem school for three years now. All of the staff are exceptional! My boys teachers help them to do the best that they can, and offer advice on what types of extra help is needed. The staff is very helpful in every way... If I have a question they have an answer if not they find the answer; they are willing to work with the parent(s) to provide the best education possible for the child(ren). They know my children by name and ask how they are doing. I'm called if there is a problem, teachers are willing to work with me due to the fact that my children live with their father and I'm 30 miles away. They respect the situation and don't make me feel like I don't belong. There is a high level of parent involvement, excellent academics. Highly recommend DLES.”

The school could use more parent involvement but overall I am pleased. If I was dealing with a different teacher I may not be so happy but as is I could not have asked for a better person teaching my child.”

The chance for children to take an active part in their school appearance, the safety of other children, the reading buddy program just to name a few are wonderful. “Dream Lake Elementary is an excellent school. The teachers are caring and communication is great between parent and teacher. They also offer free after school tutoring which is a great benefit and has allow both of my children not only to catch up but excel. Dream Lake is always looking for ways to improve and they don't procrastinate they do it! Awesome school, great teachers, happy students.”

“Dream Lake is an awesome school. I loved all the teachers and students. Everyone knows everyone's name here. Not only does Dream Lake have great academic teachers, it has great art, pe and computer teachers too. All the parents are involved with the PTA,and really know whats going on with there students. I would give this school a 5 out of 5 for overall quality.”

“We have a 2nd & Kgn here. We were not happy with our private school. D.L.E. has veteran teachers who have made this school exceptional. Variety of art, music, computer, science and PE. Small class sizes, many spanish speaking teachers and aides. Community involvement (rewards for good work)Great PTA, again with vet teachers working with parents. Individual students matter to these teachers. Reading, reading, reading with Book Club for extra measure! I was not sure of any public school... Spent so much time observing before making the move. Honestly, the standards here are much higher than our previous (private) school. Experience and education of teachers shows. Mrs. Guthrie seems to have an open door policy and is very accessable. She knows our children by name.(and they have never been sent to her office ;) D.L.E. is the original (first) elementary in Apopka. History, pride, community and excellence make DLE special.”

“My child has ADD and attended this school when he was in first grade. We found that his teacher was abel to work with him with out any special treatment. We saw a huge difference in his grades. Over all the school its self could use some tlc in the exterior appearance of the school . But as far as the staff goes they are very well prepared and organized. However iI do think more activities to involve parents are needed at this school.”

“This was a very good school for my daughter. The only bad thing was that it focused on handicap kids, and my daughter wasn't handicap so she didn't get alot of attention.”

“I have two kids with special needs that are in 2nd and 5th grade. The teachers are so wonderful with them and they always push them to do their best. Things I never thought I'd see my kids do, their doing now. My oldest went to another school in kintergarden and I was very unhappy with them. I moved just so she could go here. “I have had 3 children attend Dreamlake elementary through Pre-K to 5th grade and have found that every one of these children even to this day are not reading at grade level. During their beginning stages of reading, I don't believe that they were taught well enough for them to excel.”
