Jones High School Reviews

I am a student at Jones High and at first I was skeptical about attending Jones but after my freshman year there i found a home in Jones. Jones is filled with many opportunities that may not have been available to me at another high school. I'm truly glad I gave Jones a chance and came here to further my education. It is not what many outside people think it is. Trust me, I know because I used to be one of them. So, on that note, give Jones a chance when sending your child to high school!

i love jones high its such a great schools i love all my teachers and can talk to them personally and i think the best teacher i've had is a teacher there and her name is mrs.bell

I feel that anyone who is not at Jones High School every single day has no right to speak ill of the school. I think Jones High is a great school, one of the best. Just because the school has a D grade(missed a C by a few points) on the FCAT, you cannot say that all the kids are all D students.

This school really needs to do more work. The scores for the FCAT are unexeptable. The students need more influence.

Jones is a good school but a lot of the students lack home training and unfortunately some of the teachers do not want to be there either. Being forced to teach children that lack the interest to learn is discouraging as a teacher. Yes Jones does have positive attributes but right now the negatives outweigh the positive this only hurts the children that really want an education.

I am currently a student attending Jones High school. I received a 5 on the FCAT writing and 4 on both the FCAT reading and math. I have a 3.6 unweighted GPA. I know I will be attending A college or university. Jones has provided me with the education and information to succeed. Jones has even taken me to a variety of college campuses consisting of; The University of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, University of Tampa, Velincia, Flagner, and many more. Even though my parent isn't involved in the school, she is involved with me. It hurts me to hear these comments saying Jones is a bad school and you should attend another school. I love Jones. Even though I don't plan on living in this area in about 10 years, my future children will attend Jones High School and so will my children's children.

Jones offer a wealth of advantages for students who wants to learn. don not take this advantage for granted.

I think that Jones High School is still a great school.

I feel that the blame should be the parents. They are the ones that should be providing support and feedback to their children about the importance of school. Yes you have athletics but what do these children have to connect with society, it sure isn't the entire kids. You must admit that these childs are not bad kids, there are some that want to learn and some that do not. Dr. Williams is a fine principal.

I seriously believe that Jones High have quality teachers in place that care about the well being and educational development of the students. However, the school has been hijacked by the football program. The students have been led to believe that success can only come in the form of athletics thus most do not apply themselves academically.

Jones High School is going down hill. years ago it wasnt that bad. but if things keep going the way it is, it will remain the worst high school in orange county. if you want ur child to get a great education in a orange county high school look in to Winter Park high school (an A school), Timber Creek (is a B school), or University High School, because of its out standing IB and Global Tech magnet programs.

Jones Jones Jones! Wake up people and parents. Its not the school its the students and the parents that I blame for Jones down fall. The school board has done what they could to provide services for the students. The teachers have spent their long days and and evening to see that their student is learnig.Where are the parents ? Yes some, a small few of parents are dedicated to their children as well as others education. Now you have parents who just can't read or write and think any type of help is an insult.Parents need to be more proactive with their children and the school. They need to understand Jones isn't there to fix broken homes but educate the children for a better future. It always happen to those who help the less fortunate, when things don't go right everyone wants to blame the one thats trying to help verse the one being hepled.Don't blame Jones!

Jones High School is an

Jones High is a good school, despite what the state standardized test results say. Jones has produced great individuals. It is going to take the help of the students' parents working sided by side with the teachers, in order for the test scores to improve. There are some parents that are extremely dedicated in their children's education. However, more parents need to get involved. It is going to take more than words from the parents in order for the scores to improve. The teachers can't do it alone and it will take action from the parents if there is going to be a drastic change.

You have got to stop blaming the school! Everything starts at home! There is not much parent participation at this school! Parents wake up! You have got to start reinforcing what your children learn at school at home! The teachers are doing what they are supposed to do! Parents, what have you done to assist in your child's progress academically? This is not targeted to all of the parents, but the majority...It's really a shame...I guess they have to blame someone, huh?

Jones High focuses too much on extra-curricular activities versus academics and life skill development. Many would suggest that extra curricular activities serve as a means for social development but not at Jones. It has become about the money and creating pride through great band performances and winning football/basketball games. When I attended Jones, winning football or basketball games did not come before learning. The new coaching staff is literally sacrificing kids future to win games. It is a bad situation and people question why I will not send my children to Jones High.

Jones High School is a wonderful school. The whole staff does their best to help the students there succeed. People are always saying that it's a bad school and want to put the blame on the teachers, but really you can't blame them. They can only do so much. To tell you the truth it's the parents and kids who should be the blame. If a student makes up their mind to succeed then that's what they'll do and it goes the same way with them wanting to fail and not get an education. That's how i feel on the situation.

Jones is an F school. They are doing really good in writting, everything else is 0.I beleive they need to do more reading.80% Students of Jones students are learning how to speak english while they're in high school.Evans H and Oakridge H have the same problem.

Jones is very intellegent school I went there in 85 and my two daughters go there now and they are in good hands by principal Philips he a very outstanding principal for only being there a year. I really appreciate him for a job well done. On the other hand the deans are a little to strict but that's what they need someone that will give them the extra push.

Jones High is a great school which has given my three children a great education.

Reference the comments made by the previous parent. So what if classes are held in portables and the school is being renovated. This does not deter students from learning nor should it deter parents from being involved in their sons/daughters education. If you are renovating your home it does not prevent you as a parent from watching over the affairs of your household. You will continue to get up every morning and proceed with task(s) for the day. The teachers are teaching according to the Florida Sunshine State Standards. This curriculum framework provides the guidelines for teaching in Florida. Therefore, you may want to do some research yourself and find out what are the requirements for high school writing. Before blaming the teachers, parents need to be informed or do more research to become aware of the objectives of the College Prep Courses and compare them to the objectives of the actual College Courses. Yes, Jones High School has rich history, both academically and culturally. Parents, the product you should use to assess whether Jones High School is a quality school, are the alumni! Parents should network with alumni, and there are a lot of alumni in Orlando. I am a product of Jones High School and I learned the neccessary skills and processes to be an effective person in society. I work every day, I provide for myself and my family. I am involved in community events and working with children. I love the fact that African Americans, Blacks do have history in the City of Orlando, Orange County, State of Florida and the nation. Thank God for Jones High School! Never put down a school and its teachers! Schools and teachers are not the same, therefore, stop judgeing and partner with your child's teachers so that you are aware and ahead of the game. Make sure you as a parent use creative and critical thinking skills to assist children. C. Smith Alumni Class of 1973

it's a great school. it just needs a little improvement.
